Image Group
is_this_seat_taken_6_klein.jpg

The seating element started life as an art school project to design a new form of seating.
What if this icon become's someting real, life size, something you can touch, sit or relax on.
Imagine a public space (park, field,.....) with fifty someting seats on it. You could ask yourself, are these seats already taken or are they not?

It could be used as indoor as well as outdoor furniture.

The Mamma rocking chair is a tribute by industrial designer Patrick Messier to Sophie Fournier, his life and business partner, for the birth of their first child. When she announced that she was pregnant, she said that she would need a rocking chair. After the couple shopped in vain for a product that met their criteria for aesthetics and comfort, Messier decided to create something new.

Victor Aleman

A fabulous concept in on-floor seating that has been designed by a chap called Victor Aleman. The best bit about this, though, is that if you fit a bunch of them together then it looks like Scalextric for the posh. Made of a single piece of red oak and covered with high-density foam it will no doubt be off-the-scale expensive.

Aphrodite

Image

Information

If you interpret them poetically they enwomb something, nurture and as if giving birth bring if forward. They have femininity about them, like Aphrodite whose body carried Eros. The form of a beautiful woman with winding hips, like those found in a Botticelli painting, as an Drawer creates a refined functionality. Moreover, the removal of the side panel from the shelves further expresses the gracefulness of the female posture.
